The Scottish Refugee Council’s Annual General Meeting was hailed a success on Friday as supporters, refugees and refugee organisations packed in to City Halls to call on the UK government offer real protection to asylum seekers most in need and end the destitution they face.

The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Refugees (AGM)

The Race Equality Centre in Leicester and Leicestershire (TREC) – is a voluntary organisation that was established under the name of the Leicester Racial Equality Council in 1991 to challenge discrimination as defined by the Race Relations Act 1976; and further strengthened by the Race Relations Act (Amendment) Act and the Human Rights Act 1998.

Leicester City of Sanctuary AGM

Leicester City of Sanctuary invites you  to celebrate the first full year of  their growth and development, talking and listening, meetings and events, projects and paperwork! The Annual General Meeting will be held at Friends Meeting House, 16 Queens Road, Leicester, LE2 1WP on the 07th of July 2009.

This year we are pleased to have as our Guest Speaker Dr. Les Ashton from Assist, the Leicester primary care service solely for asylum seekers, who has a special interest in primary care mental health and who will be talking about his work at Assist and the specific health needs of asylum seekers.

The formal business of the AGM will include the election of the Officers – Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-Treasurer, and the ‘members’ of our new Committee – the roles of Vice-Chair and Vice-Treasurer being specifically aimed at those with personal experience of the asylum system, to provide the experience and build the confidence needed to stand for Chair and Treasurer in the future.

To reserve your place please complete the ‘place reservation and committee nomination’ form and return it as soon as possible – if you are interested in standing as an ‘officer’ or ‘member’ of our Committee we welcome your nomination, the deadline for Committee nominations is Friday 26th June 2009.
